Hi, my name is Katie and I'm mom to Lily (9 months) and currently expecting again. My husband and I are excited, even though unlike some people's posts who have large gaps between some kids, these babies will be pretty close as we are 19 weeks. It was sort of planned... I've been using disposables for Lily that I've been able to get from a community program I go to, but once the new baby is born we graduate from BabySteps and I'll two babies to diaper! Yikes! I decided that I want to get started cloth diapering, and get the hang of it to save us the money we don't have to spend on excess amounts of disposables every month with two babies. I know it will save us in the long run, and since I've started looking into cloth diapers I've been even more disgusted that I have to throw away the disposables every time I change her.
I found out about your group from a flier at BabySteps and I'm excited to be able to finally connect with people in the area who also cloth diaper! Google searching only can get you so far, and making the jump to start is a little intimidating. I'm thinking of trying some prefolds and covers, is there a best place to buy prefolds? From what I've read online it seems the thicker ones are better, but where do you get them the cheapest and what is generally recommended by all of you for covers?
Lastly, how do I find out about events? I saw that in the welcome post, but maybe I haven't searched around enough yet.
